In the exterior views, you're limited to four basic orientations, but inside you can rotate the camera through a full 360 degrees. The buildings and characters models are made of polygons enabling the player to rotate the map to get a look at the other sides of buildings.

Although the camera is limited to the same three-quarter perspective the amazing graphics are actually rendered in 3D. From there he can look into the window of a nearby house and pick off enemies inside.ДЄs good as the first game looked, the sequel looks even better. What's really cool is to position your sniper at a high window. Any enemies inside the room will be seen. It's a full 3D view that you can pan around. When you're outside and examine a window, a pop up window appears in the upper left of the screen which shows a 3D render of the inside of the building. This is really good idea before you step out doors. When your character is inside and examines a window, the screen switches from the interior to the exterior, allowing you to see where the enemies are.

The ability to look into and out of windows is also really smart. It sounds intrusive, but it really fits in well with the game and doesn't seem incongruous at all. If you wait to long, they'll be able to tell what you're all about and will call in reinforcements. If they begin to detect you, a red line will appear in their green vision cone. You can select any enemy on the map and see the range and angle of their vision. Sneaking around the levels will be a bit easier thanks to a handy line of sight cone for the enemies.

While the game is controlled pretty much like your standard RTS, there are a few significant additions. In terms of interface, Commandos 2 has made some really intelligent choices. The initial mission here was lawsuitably similar to Saving Private Ryan but I happen to know for a fact that Spielberg only plays Rainbow Six and Tom Hanks has sworn off of games after his wife caught him playing Tomb Raider by himself, so Eidos is pretty safe. The missions will range from Northern Europe to the South Pacific and cover a wide variety of mission types. Having spent a few days just trying to get through the first mission, I'd have to agree. The game promises to offer only 12 missions but the folks at Eidos have promised that each mission will take anywhere from five to six hours to complete. There are situations where stealth is the only answer. While games like Fallout Tactics and No One Lives Forever promised the possibility of stealth-based gameplay, it never worked as well as it seems to here. A lot of the game depends on not being detected. One false step and you'll find yourself surrounded by hordes of enemies all shooting to kill. They're all holed up in a quaint little town square that's literally covered with German soldiers. Controlling only the Thief, you'll have to begin rescuing the three other members of your squad who have recently been taken prisoner by the Germans.

The game begins with you in control of only one of the game's characters.
